Kitty Foster Mom
My husband and I adopted Lexus now known as BabyCakes in 2006 from the Weslayan Petco Pet of the Week. She was 3 years old at that time. She hadn’t been adopted previously as some might think she had a deformity because her third eyelid doesn’t go back all the way and therefore her left eye has a dark area in the corner. I kept seeing her at that Petco and when I told my husband no one would adopt her because of that he decided that we would make her a part of our family. This petite kitty made a difference in both of our lives but I think she made a huge impact on his as he was fighting cancer. BabyCakes was his companion while I was at work and I believe helped him with the depression he had due to his illness. After my husband died, she continued to be a lifeline to me as well. A couple of years later I found a semi-feral kitty at my office and her kittens. I contacted BabyCakes foster mom, Marcy Martin, and she helped me save these kitties. I have been a rescuer, volunteer and foster with HOPE for almost 4 years now and have fostered many kittens and cats with BabyCakes as my sidekick and great surrogate kitty mom. BabyCakes just celebrated her 10th birthday and I am proud to be her forever mom. I personally want to thank Marcy Martin for rescuing BabyCakes and her mom, Sassy, from a life on the streets so many years ago. Without her I wouldn’t have my Cakes… Jackie Instone
