Ace
Estimated DOB 2-1-2021, weight 55 lbs.
“Hi there, I’m Ace, the happiest, wiggly butt, outgoing boy you’ll ever meet. I love everyone, my foster mom says I’m such a Good Boy! Foster mom found me when she was out walking my foster canine brother, I had been attacked by another dog, pretty badly (I’m a lover, not a fighter). Foster mom took me home and took me to the vet and I got all poked and prodded but I behaved perfectly even though it hurt a lot. Now, I’m fully healed and am looking for my forever home!
I’m very playful and full of energy and good with other pets (my foster home has a big dog, a small dog, and a cat and I get along with all of them) and kids. I love treats, cuddles, and butt scratches. But I especially love hanging out with my foster fam after everyone gets home from work and school. I don’t mind spending the day in my crate but I’m ready for some lovin’ and zoomin’ around every evening. On the weekends, sometimes I get to go to the Dog Park and play with other Good Boys and Good Girls and we have a blast!
Do you have room in your family for a new addition that just wants to play with dogs and snuggle with people?”

Bruno #gentle-blue-eyed-bruiser
Est. DOB 2/1/21, weight 50 lbs.
Hi there! I'm Bruno, and I'm a sweet, energetic, playful, as well as beautifully-marked Bulldog/American Staffordshire Terrier mix fella with captivating icy-blue eyes. My coat pattern is called “harlequin” because I’m mostly white with several large brindle patches on my back as well as brindle on my ears and tail. Don't you love my white tail tip?
My loose facial skin, furrowed brow, small ears, and hanging jaw "chops" all practically scream "I'm a Bulldog!" somewhere in my heritage. I'm a thick-set, fairly low-slung, well-muscled bruiser with a ‘sourmug’ face. In England, Bulldogs are icons because one famous Bulldog was the look-alike companion of double-chinned Sir Winston Churchill.
My longer legs as well as my elongated torso and muzzle suggest my American Staffordshire Terrier ancestry. "Am-Staffs" are renowned for being happy, outgoing, good-natured, stable, and confident dogs. We're usually game for anything and lovable “personality dogs” around the house. Am-Staffs like mental and physical challenges, so we’re highly trainable.
My weight doesn't preclude my wanting to curl up in my foster mom’s lap! I love cuddles, long scratches, walks outside, and discovering new toys. I greet my foster mom with enthusiastic tail wags and sometimes a happy howl. I enjoy treats, and I especially love peanut butter.
I really enjoy playing with humans and other dogs. I’m quite good at tug-of-war, and I usually win! I want to be best friends with my foster family’s dog, and I like meeting new friends while I’m out on walks. In fact, as a stray, one day I followed my foster family home on one of their walks and decided to stay!
I didn’t know any commands or my own name when I moved in with them, but I now know how to “sit,” and I’m learning my name and some annoying words like “drop it.” I’m potty-trained, and I’m working with my foster family on crate-training and leash-training. I’m delighted to report that I’m making lots of progress!
One of my other favorite activities is chewing, and I’m learning about what types of things are permissible for me to chew on and which ones are not. My foster family keeps hiding their shoes from me! But I’m also happy to chew on toys or bones, and I enjoy working on food puzzles.
I’m quite contented in my foster home, but I know what’s best for me is to move into a permanent home with a family who can devote quality time and attention to me. I’d do well in a house with other dogs to keep me company and with a yard where I can get in my daily zoomies.
Because I have such an amiable, fun-loving personality, there are plenty of households in which I would fit like a glove. Why don't you arrange to meet me today? I can’t wait to see if you can beat me in tug of war!

Buddy
Estimated DOB 10/1/21, weight 62 lbs.
Woof, Woof, everyone! I’m Buddy, a happy, friendly, patient, trusting Black Lab mix fella who loves to hang out indoors with my people-pack. I’ve been called a low-rider, but basically I’m a Black Lab mixed with something smaller, perhaps Terrier? (my back is knee-high on my foster mom).
You’d be hard-pressed to find another dog who’s as gentle and well-socialized with people of all ages as I am – even when the vet pokes and prods me. Foster Mom says that I’m just the “best-est” boy all the way around!
I get along great with other dogs and love playing with them. Interactive play with my foster mom as she tosses toys, sticks, and balls for me thrills my heart. When I’m thoroughly exhausted from playing outside, I’m content to snooze on my doggie bed.
Let’s see – what else can I tell you about what a good boy I am? I’m smart, so I quickly learned “sit,” “down,” and “shake” as well as how to use the doggie door. I walk obediently on a leash, take treats gently, and am fine with baths.
A Good Samaritan found me on a back road where I’d been abandoned by my owner. I was covered in mange, but thank heavens my foster mom took me in. My coat has grown back nicely (after many medicated baths!), so I’m now ready for my forever home. Considering what I’ve been through, I’m very resilient because I’ve responded so enthusiastically to the love that my foster mom has showered upon me.
I’d love to spend the rest of my days in a comfy home surrounded by people who love me and will never abandon me again. I’d fit like a glove into a lot of households – including with kids and other dogs. Ideally an active family will adopt me and give me plenty of daily exercise – either by walking, jogging, or playing fetch in the back yard. Could that be with you? Arrange to meet me today!

Jack
Estimated DOB 9/1/21, Weight ~ 65 lbs
Howdy! My name is Jack! I’m a very happy, wiggly, Black Labrador Retriever /Greyhound mix (best guess) with one erect and one floppy ear. I love all people, though sometimes I forget how big I am with kiddos. I LOVE to wrestle with other big dogs, go on hikes, splash in water, chew on all of my squeaky toys, and chase my tennis balls.
I’m being fostered by an amazing foster mom who is helping me work on my manners. I’m smart and an eager learner so long as treats are involved. My big foster brother and I wrestle lots, but my small foster sister is too small to play with, so I’d do best in a home with large, energetic dogs like me. I also have a foster kitty brother, but he and I don’t get along too well. I like to chase him, and he doesn’t like to be chased.
Though I may have lots of energy, I love to take naps with my foster mom, go to the park and watch the birds, watch TV, and even go people watching! We do lots of hikes and long walks to help me work off my energy so an active home with prior dog owner experience would be best. My foster mom thinks I would make a great sport dog or hiking buddy for the right family.
A Good Samaritan found me wandering around a park with no ID tags or microchip and I’m so relieved I was accepted into the HOPE program. I’m anticipating my new home with a loving, caring family, a canine pal, and a yard where I can frolic to my heart’s content. Could that be with you?

Koda
Estimated DOB 11/22/2021, weight 47 lbs.
Koda couldn’t be more happy and friendly with everyone, despite being abandoned by his owner who pitched him over the fence of a boarding kennel late one night.
Koda loves to play with other dogs but hasn’t gotten the hang of playing with toys yet. He takes treats gently, is content to snooze on his bed or cot when he’s through playing outside, knows how to use the doggy door, walks OK on leash, and knows a couple of commands (Sit and Down). He’s currently enrolled in Beginner’s Obedience Class and he gets to attend Doggy Day Care periodically.
Koda’s ideal home would have another dog for a playmate and a nice yard to run around in, but he also likes to hang out inside with his people pack.

Max #blue-eye-brown-eye
Est DOB 11/23/21, weight 51lb.
Woof! Woof, everyone! I’m Max, a sweet, friendly, and outgoing Harrier Hound who’s perhaps mixed with a Catahoula because I have one blue eye and one brown eye. The Harrier is a larger version of its cousin the Beagle and was bred as a pack hound in England to chase hare. We’re known for our irresistibly sweet face and low-set, velvety ears, and I’ve got that Harrier look in spades.
I’m a very active, playful fella who loves people of all ages, including kids, as well as other dogs. But keep cats away from me because I like to chase them (just like my prey-driven ancestors chased hare). I love to swim in the lake at the dog park as well as enthusiastically retrieve balls, sticks, or whatever you throw into the lake. I adore running, so being your jogging partner would help me burn up my energy.
I’m a smart dude who’s learning commands such as “sientase” (Spanish for “sit” because my foster mom is bilingual!). I’m crate trained and still working on my potty training -- jusst read on to see why.
I was adopted by a family, but when I was eight or ten months old, they dropped me off for boarding at the vet and never picked me up. Think about it – I was abandoned by the only family I’d ever known! I just kept waiting and waiting for them to show up again! I always wondered if they were overwhelmed by soaring inflation . . .
It was miserable to be an active puppy confined to a cage at the clinic for over six months. What a place to spend my first birthday – it may have been Thanksgiving, but I wasn’t very thankful . . . UNTIL my future HOPE foster mom found out about my plight and decided to spring me from my cage. She brought me home with her and promised me that she’d me find a wonderful forever home.
My dreamy eyes glow with warmth and kindness, and my pleading expression will surely catch your attention. Arrange to meet me today and find out how irresistibly sweet I am!

Milan #lap-dog-extraordinaire
Estimated DOB 3/15/2014, weight 14 lbs
Hi, my name is Milan, and I'm a lap dog extraordinaire. I like long walks and cuddling in your lap. I’m crate-trained and potty-trained. I like to sleep at the end of the bed or in my crate. I will love you always.

Murphy #sweet-playboy
DOB 4/30/22, WEIGHT 40 LB.
Arf! Arf, everyone! I'm Murphy, a friendly, active, people-loving smooth-coated Fox Terrier/American Staffordshire Terrier mix fella with an adorable white-tipped tail. I’m quite a handsome dude with my large, erect, triangular ears and my pale-chestnut coat, which is embellished with a white blaze and white tuxedo markings.
I'm just a pup with the usual spurts of puppy energy. All I want to do is play, play, play, although as I mature, my puppy energy is getting easier for my foster family to manage! I've learned a few simple commands like "fetch" and "sit," and I'm house-broken to use the doggie door. I obediently sleep in my kennel, and I'm working on walking on a leash. I'm even starting to outgrow the puppy chewing phase, and fortunately I've learned that chewing on my toys is okay but chewing on furniture is not! All in all, Foster Mom proclaims that I’m a “good boy!”
Incidentally, the results of my genetic breed profile are that I’m 45% Fox Terrier, 24% American Staffordshire Terrier, 20% Chinese Shar-Pei, and 11% Bull Terrier. Fox Terriers are sweet, lively, and active dogs, and I’m no exception. We’re clever, spirited, and independent – always ready for an adventure. "Am Staffs" are renowned for being happy, outgoing, good-natured, stable, and confident dogs. We're usually game for anything and lovable "personality dogs" around the house. Am Staffs like mental and physical challenges, and because we're so eager to please, we're highly trainable. I guess you’d say that I’m a great combination of at least two breeds!
I'm homeless because a Good Samaritan found me as a healthy but skinny six-month-old stray, roaming the streets and hiding under cars. I adore my foster family for helping me put on some weight with the yummy food they serve me. I'm devoted to my foster mom and follow her everywhere around the house, and I get along great with the two small resident dogs.
I hope that my sweetly expressive face and handsome markings have caught your attention. My foster mom says that an ultra-sweet boy like me deserves a loving family who will take very good care of me. Arrange to meet me today! Warning: you may get a few mushy puppy kisses sloshed on your cheeks.

Pickle #joie-de-vie
Est. DOB 1/8/22, weight 45 lbs.
Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Pickle, a sweet, playful, inquisitive chestnut and speckled-white American Staffordshire Terrier/Australian Cattle Dog gal who relishes snuggling “down-time” as much as invigorating play-time. I have an overall “joie de vie” with anything new -- be it experiences, toys, or especially smells. That’s why I celebrate when I accompany my hoomans on car rides, park outings, and patio dining. I just love to be right in the middle of whatever is going on!
Anyone who will play with me is my friend, and this includes other dogs. I’ve never met a stranger, and I get so excited about meeting new people that I’m working on my “sit” command so I can tone down my ebullience. I’m also improving on my leash etiquette so that on my walks I can greet other dogs appropriately as well as enthusiastically. I haven’t met any cats or kids yet, but Foster Mom thinks I’d be fine with both.
I’m a quick learner and am eager to please my foster mom with my aptitude for obedience training. My manners are stellar in that I take treats very gently and let my foster mom take toys away from me with ease.
I was found wandering the mean Houston streets as a stray and taken to a high-kill shelter. That’s where my future foster mom found me and fortunately sprung me from my cage in order to bring me to safety in her foster home. I still have a little anxiety after having to fend for myself during that horrible “hardscrabble” phase of my life, but Foster Mom’s TLC is helping me gain confidence every day.
I can be a bit of an escape artist and do better in a larger space rather than a crate, which only reminds me of my shelter days. My foster mom has given me “the guest room,” and this arrangement works out great!
I’m now ready for my next “new” adventure in your loving, lively forever home. Hopefully you have another playful pup to keep me company while you’re at work or on vacation. I can’t wait to be part of your life, so arrange to meet me right away!

Sammy #cheery-lap-dog
Est. DOB 1/7/15, WEIGHT 12.7 lbs.
Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Sammy, a sweet, friendly, quiet, and affectionate white Maltipoo (Maltese/Mini Poodle mix) fella who is, in my humble opinion, the world’s greatest little dog. I think my foster mom agrees because she loves it that I curl up and settle in her lap whenever I can. There are two resident dogs in my foster home, but I’m much rather interact with beloved Foster Mom than play with them.
I have a comical idiosyncrasy: I like to burrow under anything I can move and get under. You name it – bedcovers, blankets, pillows, throws. Foster Mom thinks it’s adorable that a cute little thing such as I am likes to excavate my own little lair like a mole.
Let me tell you a little about Maltipoos. We’re gentle, social dogs who love people. Our happy, cheerful dispositions are guaranteed to boost your mood and make you smile. We can even be good therapy dogs because of the comfort we provide. And I’m no exception to this profile!
I really looked like a mess when my foster mom first rescued me! Oh my goodness – I weighed only 10 pounds! You could see every bone on my vertebrae, plus I had no hair on my back. My eyes were practically glued shut with “goop” from an infection; I also had an ear infection; and my mouth was a mess from neglected preventative dentistry.
Thank heavens Foster Mom and the vet have transformed me into a new man! With a steady diet of nutritious food, I’ve gained 2.5 pounds, I’m filling out nicely, and my fur is growing back! I’m eating a soft diet that’s appropriate after all of the diseased teeth (that hadn’t already fallen out) have been pulled. I look and feel so much better! And the silver lining about having no teeth is that I don't need any future dental cleanings!
Medications have cleared up my eye and ear infections. The vet also diagnosed that I have a condition called “dry eye,” which means that I don’t produce tears like I should. So Foster Mom puts drops in my eyes twice a day and cleans out any “goop” as needed. Thanks to the hair around my eyes being clipped, I can see so much better now!
I’m so grateful for all the love and attention that I’m getting! In return, I snuggle and cuddle like you wouldn’t believe! I’ve learned how to use the doggie door, and I’m now crate-trained.
If you’re looking for a cozy lap dog and can look past my limitations, I’d really like to be your dog! Half of my life is still ahead of me, so let’s spend it together! My heart has so much love to give, all that’s missing is YOU!

Skip
Est. DOB 3/11/2021, WEIGHT ~47 LB.
Skip, aka Skipper and Mr. Handsome, is such a gentle, sweet dog! He had been hit by a car and his leg shattered, and was subsequently picked up by Animal Control. After his leg was amputated, his foster mom sprang him from the shelter and enrolled him in HOPE. Just the sweet life, no more street life for this tripod!
Skip gets along well with other dogs (there are 3 other large dogs in his foster home) and has gone to Day Care a couple of times. But he especially loves ‘his people’ and will snuggle and roll over for a belly rub at every opportunity. He is learning to play with toys and will occasionally fetch a tennis ball. He knows how to use the stairs and the doggy door. Overall, he’s a low maintenance boy, doesn’t need a lot of exercise although he does enjoy a leisurely walk in the neighborhood.
