Bella

You are here:
Loving, beautiful girl

Estimated DOB 2/1/2020, weight 40 lbs.

Bella is just what her name says, a beautiful, super sweet girl that is very docile, she loves anyone that will pet her. Bella adores her foster dad (she bonds heavily with ‘her person’) and would love to have a doting owner that will spend lots of time with her snuggling on the couch.

Bella is crate trained and rides well in the car. She lives with three resident dogs in her foster home and is very playful with her big canine foster sister. She’s very quite, she doesn’t bark hardly at all. She likes getting some exercise in the back yard but she would be OK in an apartment home as long as she got walked every day.

Bella’s ideal home would be either 1) with another dog that is her size or bigger and that has a dominant personality, or 2) as an only dog with play dates with other dogs.

Buddy

You are here:
THE BEST-EST BOY!

Estimated DOB 10/1/21, weight 62 lbs.

Woof, Woof, everyone! I’m Buddy, a happy, friendly, patient, trusting Black Lab mix fella who loves to hang out indoors with my people-pack. I’ve been called a low-rider, but basically I’m a Black Lab mixed with something smaller, perhaps Terrier? (my back is knee-high on my foster mom).

You’d be hard-pressed to find another dog who’s as gentle and well-socialized with people of all ages as I am – even when the vet pokes and prods me. Foster Mom says that I’m just the “best-est” boy all the way around!

I get along great with other dogs and love playing with them. Interactive play with my foster mom as she tosses toys, sticks, and balls for me thrills my heart. When I’m thoroughly exhausted from playing outside, I’m content to snooze on my doggie bed.

Let’s see – what else can I tell you about what a good boy I am? I’m smart, so I quickly learned “sit,” “down,” and “shake” as well as how to use the doggie door. I walk obediently on a leash, take treats gently, and am fine with baths.

A Good Samaritan found me on a back road where I’d been abandoned by my owner. I was covered in mange, but thank heavens my foster mom took me in. My coat has grown back nicely (after many medicated baths!), so I’m now ready for my forever home. Considering what I’ve been through, I’m very resilient because I’ve responded so enthusiastically to the love that my foster mom has showered upon me.

I’d love to spend the coming cold months in a warm, comfy home surrounded by people who love me and will never abandon me again. I’d fit like a glove into a lot of households – including with kids and other dogs. Ideally an active family will adopt me and give me plenty of daily exercise – either by walking, jogging, or playing fetch in the back yard. Could that be with you? Arrange to meet me today!

Jack

You are here:
WHAT AN ATHLETE!

Estimated DOB 9/1/21, Weight ~ 55 lbs

Howdy! My name is Jack!  I’m a very happy, wiggly, Black Labrador Retriever /Greyhound mix with one erect and one floppy ear. I love all people, though sometimes I forget how big I am with kiddos. I LOVE to wrestle with other big dogs, go on hikes, splash in water, chew on all of my squeaky toys, and chase my tennis balls.

I’m being fostered by an amazing foster mom who is helping me work on my manners. I’m smart and an eager learner so long as treats are involved. My big foster brother and I wrestle lots, but my small foster sister is too small to play with, so I’d do best in a home with large, energetic dogs like me. I also have a foster kitty brother, but he and I don’t get along too well. I like to chase him, and he doesn’t like to be chased.

Though I may have lots of energy, I love to take naps with my foster mom, go to the park and watch the birds, watch TV, and even go people watching! We do lots of hikes and long walks to help me work off my energy so an active home with prior dog owner experience would be best. My foster mom thinks I would make a great sport dog or hiking buddy for the right family.

A Good Samaritan found me wandering around a park with no ID tags or microchip and I’m so relieved I was accepted into the HOPE program. I’m anticipating my new home with a loving, caring family, a canine pal, and a yard where I can frolic to my heart’s content. Could that be with you?

Murphy #sweet-playboy

You are here:
EXCELLENT FAMILY DOG

DOB 4/30/22; EXPECTED WEIGHT 30-35 LB.

I'm Murphy, a friendly, active, people-loving, smooth-coated Portuguese Podengo “medio” mix fella with a white-tipped tail who was born in April 2022. At 6 months old, I weighed 25 pounds, but I should weigh about 30-35 pounds when I'm full grown.

I'm homeless because at my tender age, a Good Samaritan found me as a healthy but skinny stray, roaming the streets and hiding under cars. I adore my foster family for helping me put on some weight with the yummy food they serve me. I’m devoted to my foster mom and follow her everywhere around the house, and I get along great with the two small resident dogs.

I’m just a pup with the usual spurts of puppy energy. All I want to do is play, play, play! I’m even learning to fetch! So far I’ve learned to “sit,” and I’m house-broken to use the doggie door. I’m working on walking on a leash and crate training. True confessions: I’m in that “chew phase,” but fortunately I’ve learned that chewing on my toys is okay but chewing on furniture is not!

I’m just a stray hound dog, but my large, erect, triangular ears and chestnut coat with white blaze and tuxedo markings certainly make me look like a Portuguese Podengo mix. Since Podengos are relatively rare, I thought I’d tell you what you might expect as I grow up and mature.

“Medios” are in the medium-sized Portuguese Podengos. We’re lively, playful, alert, highly intelligent, and independent hounds who make excellent family companions. We’re tolerant, compliant, and eager to please our family. Loyal, easy-going, and loving, we make strong bonds with our family but can sometimes be suspicious of strangers. We learn new tricks very fast but at the same time cannot always be easy to train.

I hope there's someone in your family who wants to be my playmate! We’re funny dogs who love to play – especially a good game of chase – but can also easily entertain ourselves with toys. We’re always ready for action and excel in dog sports like agility and fly-ball. We need plenty of daily exercise to keep us both physically and mentally stimulated. If our exercise needs are not met and we're bored, we can be destructive.

We “medios” were bred to hunt rabbits, so watch out for other small household pets because the urge to chase little, furry critters has never left us. A home with older children (over 8) would likely work best since I might make smaller ones fall down with my exuberance.

I hope that my sweetly expressive face and handsome markings have caught your attention. My foster mom says that an ultra-sweet boy like me deserves a loving family who will take very good care of me. Arrange to meet me today! Warning: you may get a few mushy puppy kisses sloshed on your cheeks.

Parker

You are here:
STELLAR STUDENT IN OBEDIENCE TRAINING

~ DOB 10/18/21, weight: ~50 lbs.

My name is Parker! I'm still a youngster, and the vet thinks I'm a Shepherd mixed with something else. My foster mom is a dog trainer and is teaching me all the basic commands! It's so exciting! I love to learn, so I’m picking up fast on all sorts of things.

I'm very good with other dogs, but I have a lot of puppy energy, so I’d love to have a canine playmate at my new home. I'm also good by myself because I learned how to play alone growing up outside. As long as I’ve got a few toys and a place to run, I can tire myself out.

I'm okay with cats, but I just wish they would play with me! I'm looking for a permanent home with lots of love and companionship -- something I haven’t had much of until recently. Can we be buddies?

Scarlet Rain

You are here:

Estimated DOB 8/1/2020, weight 7 lbs

Hi, my full name is Scarlett Rain but you can call me Scarlet. I am a full-blooded ‘Irish Chocolate’ Chihuahua. I love to cuddle and give kisses and play fetch with a small squeaky tennis ball. I really like to make it squeak! I am crate trained and potty trained but do not like wet grass. I can sleep in my crate or in bed with you (I really prefer cuddling in bed with you). I like long walks and will follow you everywhere in the house. I will always love you and be there for you. I will be a little scarred at first, just give me some time to warm up to you and you will not be disappointed!
