Apollo

You are here:
Blue eyed God ...

Est. DOB 1/15/2023, WEIGHT ~50 LB.

I’m Alive …

My name is Apollo and I’m alive because I have a foster home.  I’m alive because my foster mom made a small sacrifice and rescued me, made some small adjustments to her routine and welcomed me into her home.  Now I’m looking for my furever home.  I’m quite intelligent if I say so myself, and quite loveable too.  I love to play (I’m a teenager) so if you like to play fetch, I’m your boy!  Or we could just chill on the couch.   I love playing with other dogs too.

I know you’re a caring person because you’re looking for a furbaby to add to your family and guess what: you’d be saving two dog’s by adopting me because then my foster mom could rescue another dog in need!  Thank you for caring and wanting to adopt a rescue dog, I hope you’ll come to HOPE adoptions this weekend to meet me and see if we’re a fit for each other.  Paws crossed!

Bush

You are here:

Estimated DOB 11/1/2021, weight 48 lbs

Hi my name is Bush! I love playing with my canine foster sister and the kids in my foster home, I’m just a playing machine. I also like car rides, I just sit like a gentleman in the back seat.  I’m such a goofy boy, I will make you laugh with my antics. I love kisses and getting loved on and I’ll love you back for sure!

I had a rough start in life, being kept outside and ultimately abandoned by my previous family so I'm still working on getting used to some new experiences.  I love to go on walks but I don't trust strangers at first, it takes me a few minutes to warm up to them, but once we meet and we talk (and especially if they give me a treat), then I’m OK.  I'm friendly, playful, and over all a happy boy in my foster home where I'm learning tricks and what it’s like to be a valued member of the family.  Can I be your new best friend?

Buster #bundle-of-love

You are here:
LOVES BELLY RUBS AND GIVES KISSES

Est. DOB 10/8/18, Weight ~ 65 lbs

I’m Buster, a sweet, happy, eager-to-please, playful Boxer/Black Mouth Cur mix fella who loves “marathon” belly rubs and snuggling for hours with my human dad on the sofa or the bed. When he sits on the floor with me, I love to lie across his lap and give kisses.

I’m very loyal and doting with my human dad, with whom I’ve bonded tremendously, and I follow him everywhere. I’m respectful and trustworthy with children outside the coffee shop and on walks. A bonus is that I have a very soft mouth when I take treats and toys.

Speaking of walks, I love them! But, True Confessions – I’m working on my leash manners so I don’t get overly stimulated by cats, squirrels, or certain other dogs. I really enjoy the company of most other dogs, whether playing or lounging around together.  Moderate exercise not only stimulates me physically but mentally too.

I’ve been through obedience training and I “sit,” “down,” and “place” on command (for the most part). The trainer says that I’m a quick learner because of my treat-motivation. I’ve had a rotating cast of dog walkers, and they all applaud how people-friendly I am. With proper introductions, I meet new people and strangers easily – with the exception of people who ring that annoying doorbell.

I’ve come a long way from when I was rescued at BARC, Houston’s City shelter. You know, there are advantages to adopting an adult dog like me who’s past the stage of puppy-craziness. I’m crate-trained and know how to use the doggy door. I’m not a digger and I don’t destroy anything that isn’t a toy -- other than a couple of pillows. I’ve been a loving adopted canine brother for many months but now my canine brother's anxiety has gotten worse, to the point where it is hard for us to be together therefore it’s better that I find a new home since he was here first.  So, I’m available for adoption again!

If you’re looking for a big, gentle boy who’s a bundle of love, I fit the bill!! And I’m flexible – I can live in an apartment as long as I get adequate exercise or a home with a backyard for chasing the tennis ball.  I’d love to be the star of the show and get all of your love, i.e., not have to share you with another dog in the home, but I’d still like going to Day Care, the dog park, and play dates with my canine friends. Arrange to meet me, and remember, I’ve never met a stranger!

Coal

You are here:
The Energetic Explorer!

Est DOB 6/6/2021, weight 60 lb.

Meet Coal!

Are you ready to add a burst of energy and a whole lot of love to your life? Look no further than Coal, the wonder dog with a blend of Black Lab, German Shepherd, and Catahoula Leopard in his DNA, making him a true one-of-a-kind pup!

Coal's journey has been a bit of a rollercoaster. Once an owner surrender who lost his way and had to rely on his instincts to survive on the street, now he is a free-spirited explorer in his foster home. While he's mastered the basics like "sit," "down," and "paw/shake," this eager beaver is still learning and yearning for the guidance of a loving family.

Here's what makes Coal's tail wag with excitement:

1. **Tummy Rubs:** The key to his heart! Give him a belly rub, and you'll unlock a world of joy.

2. **Playing:** Whether it's fetch, tug-of-war, or a game of chase, Coal is always up for some fun and games. His boundless energy is sure to keep you entertained!

3. **Chewing:** A good chew toy is a must for Coal. It helps channel his energy and keeps him happily occupied and keeps anything edible or chewable, i.e. treats, cords, shoes, etc. out of his range.

4. **Walks:** Coal loves to explore the world one step at a time. He's an eager walker, but he's still learning the fine art of loose leash-walking.

Coal is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs, making him a perfect companion for playdates at the dog park. As for other animals (cats), it's a bit of an unknown territory, but he might just surprise you with his friendly demeanor.

A few more things to note: Coal is a big boy who needs an equally big-hearted family. He's a bundle of energy and will thrive with a family that has the time and love to invest in his continued training and development.  He's ready to be your sidekick in all your outdoor escapades. And, speaking of energy, Coal loves to express himself and get your attention is so get ready for some lively conversations!

If you're up for the challenge and the adventure of a lifetime, Coal is ready to join your family. Hurry up and adopt him before someone else does because he's a diamond in the rough, and with your guidance, he'll shine brighter than ever before.

Come meet Coal today, and together, let's write the next chapter of his incredible journey. Prepare to be charmed by his enthusiasm and zest for life!

Lucas

You are here:

Estimated DOB 10/29/2019, weight 55 pounds

Hello!  My name is Lucas, I was abandoned at a vet clinic, tied to the front door.  Fortunately, the clinic found a client that agreed to take me in and foster me and get me hooked up with an adoption program so here I am, I’m a HOPE dog now!

I love playing with balls and squeaky toys, going running with my foster mom’s neighbor, and sunning in the backyard in nice weather.

I like to play with other dogs but I like to wrestle and it looks /sounds rough so I may be better being the only pet.

I know Sit, I’m crate trained, I’m bilingual, and I’m ready to snuggle with you!

Miles

You are here:

Estimated DOB 11/1/2022, weight 55 lbs.

"Here comes Miles! This lover boy is ready for his fur-ever family. Miles is very friendly /playful with other dogs.  The big guy is so smart he knows when he's being too rambunctious so he puts himself in his crate without anyone needing to tell him!  He does get a bit whiny if left in the crate too long while someone is home with him.

Miles is very affectionate, cuddling on the couch is his favorite pastime and he thinks he's a lap dog. He likes to give hugs and kisses to the humans he comes in contact with. He does well on walks but could use a bit more leash training.  He’d love a home with a nice backyard and a canine sibling to play with.  Miles has a lot of love to give to your family, come and meet him at HOPE dog adoptions!”

Oreo

You are here:

Estimated date of birth 4/27/2023, weight 37 lbs.

Meet Oreo!  This sweetheart was abandoned in a park and followed her foster dad home one night when he was out walking his two small dogs.  Oreo loves belly rubs, going to the dog park, toys, road trips, and treats.

Oreo’s an energetic youngster that is full of curiosity and loves to play.  She's goofy and clumsy but she’s a fast learner and is picking up on commands and how to be a good girl on leash.  She would make a great family dog. She’s happy in her crate but really would do best in a home with a backyard and a canine older brother. Sammy #cheery-lap-dog

You are here:
BOOSTS YOUR MOOD, MAKES YOU SMILE

Est. DOB 1/7/15, WEIGHT 12.7 lbs.

Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Sammy, a sweet, friendly, quiet, and affectionate white Maltipoo (Maltese/Mini Poodle mix) fella who is, in my humble opinion, the world’s greatest little dog. I think my foster mom agrees because she loves it that I curl up and settle in her lap whenever I can. There are two resident dogs and a cat in my foster home, but I’m much rather interact with beloved Foster Mom than play with them.

I have a comical idiosyncrasy: I like to burrow under anything I can move and get under. You name it – bedcovers, blankets, pillows, throws. Foster Mom thinks it’s adorable that a cute little thing such as I am likes to excavate my own little lair like a mole.

Let me tell you a little about Maltipoos. We’re gentle, social dogs who love people. Our happy, cheerful dispositions are guaranteed to boost your mood and make you smile. We can even be good therapy dogs because of the comfort we provide. And I’m no exception to this profile!

I really looked like a mess when my foster mom first rescued me! Oh my goodness – I weighed only 10 pounds! You could see every bone on my vertebrae, plus I had no hair on my back. My eyes were practically glued shut with “goop” from an infection; I also had an ear infection; and my mouth was a mess from neglected preventative dentistry.

Thank heavens Foster Mom and the vet have transformed me into a new man! With a steady diet of nutritious food, I’ve gained 2.5 pounds, I’m filling out nicely, and my fur is growing back! I’m eating a soft diet that’s appropriate after all of the diseased teeth (that hadn’t already fallen out) have been pulled. I look and feel so much better! And the silver lining about having no teeth is that I don't need any future dental cleanings!

Medications have cleared up my original eye and ear infections. The vet also diagnosed that I have a condition called “dry eye,” which means that I don’t produce tears like I should. So Foster Mom puts drops in my eyes twice a day and cleans out any “goop” once to twice a day Thanks to the hair around my eyes being clipped, Foster Mom can clean out my eyes easier. I have cataracts in both eyes so I have very limited visibility and bump into things, but get around once I've learned my way! I generally move slow so I don’t hurt myself !

Even though I sleep a good portion of the day, I am quite aware of sounds and scents. I will sound the alarm at unfamiliar noises. I will track Foster Mom down if she has moved from where I left her using my superior olfactory senses.

My ideal home would be one that has a doggie door to a small fenced back yard and someone to keep me company.  I’m so grateful for all the love and attention that I’m getting! In return, I snuggle and cuddle like you wouldn’t believe! I’ve learned how to use the doggie door, and I’m now crate-trained.

If you’re looking for a cozy lap dog and can look past my limitations, I’d really like to be your dog! Half of my life is still ahead of me, so let’s spend it together! My heart has so much love to give, all that’s missing is YOU!
