Abby

You are here:

Estimated date of birth is 9/1/20.

My name is Abby and my foster mom says I'm the best furbaby in the world!  Not only am I gorgeous, I'm just a mere 9 months old.  They don't call Great Pyrenees GREAT for nothing!  I have the best house manners you could ask for, no barking, no destroying anything, no messing in the house.  I just love to be loved on and give kisses.  You couldn't ask for a better pet than me.  If you'd like to meet me just give me a call, I'd love to meet you too.  Everyone is considered a friend in my book.  Love, Abby.

Buster

You are here:

Estimated date of birth is 10/8/2018.

Buster was rescued from BARC, the Houston City Shelter, and has been fostered at a boarding kennel until just recently when he got a chance at a foster home for a respite from kennel life.

Buster is a happy, playful, high energy dog that loves to go on long walks and trips to the Dog Park.  He really enjoys the company of other dogs that like to play with him and he can play for hours!   In his foster home, Buster has been submissive and respectful of the other dog’s and this is also the case when he goes to the Dog Park.  He has slept in his crate at night, been respectful of the young child in his foster home, and not been destructive of any property.  He’s very sweet with people (loves belly rubs, will lay across your lap when sitting on the floor) and eager to please.  Once he’s through playing, Buster loves to relax and just chill out with the pack (both humans and canines), whether inside or outside.

Buster is a strong boy and needs a dog savvy owner with good leadership skills to keep him physically and mentally challenged.  Long walks, enrichment games (ex. hide and seek with treats or toys) and trips to the Dog Park are all things that Buster needs to stay a happy dog (although not all in the same day!).  Buster also knows Sit and Stay, takes treats very gently, fetches the tennis ball and knows how to use the doggy door.

Buster’s ideal home would be with an active person /family that enjoys the outdoors and will include Buster in their active lifestyle.  A doggy pal and a backyard would be nice too.

Jake

You are here:

Estimated date of birth is 12/14/2018.

What do you do with the sweet, skinny dog you find trotting down the Highway?  You pick him up and get him to safety, of course!  Jake is such a happy, energetic dog, he loooves to play and run!  His favorite thing in the whole world is to go to doggy day care OR the dog park and play with other dogs!  When he's finally worn out, he's ready to snuggle with his foster mom or play with his toys, in particular his Jolly Ball or tennis balls.

Jake has been through obedience class and knows some basic commands. He is crate trained and rides well in the car.  He enjoys going for walks and playing in the water (he’s had a few unintended swimming episodes at the dog park) and if no toys are around, a stick will do just fine!

Jake is currently fostered at a boarding kennel but would love to get into a real foster home or an adoptive home.  His ideal forever home will provide him with lots of attention, exercise and mental stimulation and share his exuberance for life.  He’ll be at his best in a home with another canine companion, a back yard for playing and wrestling, and without small children (older kids - 12+ years old -  are OK).

Lexi

You are here:

Estimated date of birth is 3/24/20.

Lexi is a socialite that loves to wait patiently to meet everyone she encounters! Before passing up anyone, she wants to make sure she gets her pets if allowed and will never miss an opportunity to engage with new people.

In her foster home, she is an avid cuddler who thinks she is a lap dog. When not cuddling or giving you her paw for affection, she loves to play with toys and run around! She is extremely active when not napping and when napping does not want to be disturbed as she needs her beauty sleep!

She hopes to find a home where her family will love to provide her with plenty of affection as being close to people is her favorite thing in the world. Additionally, she would love an active family who will take her on outdoor adventures so she can see and smell all the things or even play fetch, which she adores!

Lexi is best suited for a home without kids as she doesn’t quite know her size yet or a home with kids that is willing to put in the training necessary to help her understand her size and how to behave around kids as she’s never encountered any. Additionally, she would prefer to be an only dog as she adores all the attention and love!

Mia

You are here:
Beautiful, quite Shepherd girl

Beautiful Mia, she's had a hard life but her past is behind her and now she's looking forward to a loving home for the rest of her life.  She is in boarding at kennel and would  love to get a foster home or a foster-to-adopt home.

Mia is a quiet, gentle dog that bonds heavily with her person but it can take her a while to warm up to new people.  She enjoys going on leisurely walks where she can do lots of sniffing and rolling on her back for back scratches. She rides well in the car and she's very treat motivated but has a soft mouth.  She prefers smaller dogs and appears to be indifferent to cats.

Mia's ideal home would be with a pet parent that is familiar with Shepherds, is a fairly quite home, and that will be patient with her as she acclimates to her new surroundings and people.

Turtle

You are here:

Turtle has given up her former career as a back yard junk dog!  It's time to start something new, and HOPE is helping her start a new career as a loving pet. Turtle has many skills that will make her new career as an adopted pooch a breeze!  For example, she has plenty of playgroup experience, and she excels at long leisurely walks.  However, she also enjoys just sitting in the yard bird watching or watching the squirrels playing in the trees.  She also has wonderful people skills.

Turtle's specialties are snuggling, smiling and making human hearts grow three sizes. Turtle's favorite past time is just lying on the couch with her human, watching TV. Can you help Turtle start her new career as an adopted member of your loving family?

Venus

You are here:

In her own words:  I was saying to myself just this morning "Venus, you know what you need? You need a person all your own."  So I sat down to write this post for the nice people at HOPE, because  that's the kind of thing they do - find nice people for extremely intelligent and lovable furbabies.  I shudder to type this, but I'm LAPLESS! That's right, I have no human lap to call my own. Could you be persuaded to volunteer yours?  I can't wait to see my forever home!"

Venus is an active and incredibly smart girl who likes nothing more than to stretch her legs at the beach or at the park.  She'd suit an active person who wants an outgoing and friendly companion - if you can lob a tennis ball, Venus will be your friend for life!  She would like to be the only pet in her new home.
