Lilo

You are here:

Estimated date of birth is 2/4/13.

Hi my name is Lilo. Looking for a spunky dog? That's me! Looking for a short, cuddly dog? That's me too!! Want a dog who walks well on a leash and is crate trained? I am definitely your girl!!!  Want a dog you can dress up or down? I'm very glamorous all decked out.

I may not be a puppy (who needs all that potty training and chewing?), but I am a people pup. I am loyal and will protect you and will want to sit with you on the couch. I've also been told I'm a good bed buddy and would like sleeping with you. But if that's not allowed, I'll sleep in a soft bed or a crate in your room.

I am well behaved with children as long as they are well behaved around dogs.  I can also coexist with cats and other dogs. I seem to like to play with younger female dogs, but who can say for sure?  Squeaky toys are my favorite. Some of my other favorite activities are sunbathing and playing duck hunter.

Want to meet? I would like to see you!!! I am  timid with strangers, but I warm up quickly.

Meg

You are here:

Meg is such a sweet girl, she adores hanging out with people, playing fetch, going for walks, napping in the sun, treats and a good belly rub!  She's a good car rider, has been through basic obedience training, is crate trained and is waiting so patiently for a home so that she doesn't have to live at a boarding kennel.

Update:  Due to the pandemic, Meg has been lucky enough to get a foster home!  See pictures here of Meg enjoying living with her foster family in a real home rather than the boarding kennel, https://www.flickr.com/photos/72942520@N00/albums/72157715288216657

Mia

You are here:
Beautiful, quite Shepherd girl

Beautiful Mia, she's had a hard life but her past is behind her and now she's looking forward to a loving home of her own.  She is in boarding at kennel and would  love to get a foster home or a foster-to-adopt home.

Mia is a quiet, gentle dog that bonds heavily with her person but it can take her a while to warm up to new people.  She enjoys going on leisurely walks where she can do lots of sniffing and rolling on her back for back scratches. She rides well in the car and she's very treated motivated but has a soft mouth.  She prefers smaller dogs and appears to be indifferent to cats.   Mia needs to have an FHO (femoral head ostectomy)  in a few months and her foster mom will pay for that.

Mia's ideal home would be with a pet parent that is familiar with Shepherds, is a fairly quite home, and that will be patient with her as she acclimates to her new surroundings and people.

Pinky

You are here:

Get ready to fall in love!  Pinky is 60 pounds of happiness and joy. This guy is looking to join a family of adults and maybe older teens. Younger children would be fine too after Pinky goes to basic training to contain his excitement around smaller children.

Pinky is happiest when he is with his people or other well behaved dogs. While he has good stamina and spurts of energy, he also loves spending time on the couch with his people. We melted the first time he put his big head on our shoulder!

Pinky enjoys a comfy bed and delicious food. Squeaky toys get him excited but he's not a fan of peanut butter. A big plus is that Pinky is non-destructive (except for deconstructing some toys made for smaller dogs) and prefers being inside to spending time in the back yard (and who wouldn't with his light colored coat where he would sunburn easily?). While he is gentle around cats, we suggest some supervision initially.  Pinky would love to go to training class since he's a very smart boy and wants to please. He does walk well on a leash or harness (no pulling unless he sees a squirrel).

Pinky loves you already and hasn't even met you yet!

Turtle

You are here:

Turtle has given up her former career as a back yard junk dog!  It's time to start something new, and HOPE is helping her start a new career as a loving pet. Turtle has many skills that will make her new career as an adopted pooch a breeze!  For example, she has plenty of playgroup experience, and she excels at long leisurely walks.  However, she also enjoys just sitting in the yard bird watching or watching the squirrels playing in the trees.  She also has wonderful people skills.

Turtle's specialties are snuggling, smiling and making human hearts grow three sizes. Turtle's favorite past time is just lying on the couch with her human, watching TV. Can you help Turtle start her new career as an adopted member of your loving family?

Venus

You are here:

In her own words:  I was saying to myself just this morning "Venus, you know what you need? You need a person all your own."  So I sat down to write this post for the nice people at HOPE, because  that's the kind of thing they do - find nice people for extremely intelligent and lovable furbabies.  I shudder to type this, but I'm LAPLESS! That's right, I have no human lap to call my own. Could you be persuaded to volunteer yours?  I can't wait to see my forever home!"

Venus is an active and incredibly smart girl who likes nothing more than to stretch her legs at the beach or at the park.  She'd suit an active person who wants an outgoing and friendly companion - if you can lob a tennis ball, Venus will be your friend for life!

Zuko

You are here:
Male Chocolate lab pit

Zuko is a very affectionate dog who loves both cats and dogs and older kids (10+ years old).  He was abandoned in December 2018 when he was 9 months old. He is housebroken, has been through obedience training, goes to the dog park and Doggie Daycare at Houston Bark Park.   His foster mom will work with any prospective adopter on his training commands and tips.  Zuko would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard for exercise and play.
