We, along with Homeless Pets Placement League and Friends For Life, will be at Cantoni Furniture every Saturday in June from 10 am to 2 pm. Dogs for adoption will be present at the event, and our cats will be shown "virtually" through a presentation and other materials.

Every Saturday has a special theme:

  • June 7: Kick-Off Event featuring 25 vendors of pet products and services
  • June 14: Dog Training
  • June 21: Alternative Medicine
  • June 28: Pet Art and Gala Night!

The series of events will be capped by the Gala Night on the 28th. For a nominal fee, attendees will be treated to beverages and appetizers, as well as a doggie couture fashion show and an auction including contemporary dog sculptures (donated by Cantoni), each painted or decorated uniquely by local artists and celebrities.

This is a huge event and we are grateful to participate. Please come out and join us!

2/28: Girl Scouts Help At Weslayan http://www.homelesspets.net/news/archives/2008/02/index.html#000088 February was a fun month at the PetCo on Weslayan. We had girl scout troop number 2381 volunteering at our site for 3 weeks. Our foster cats got more love and attention than they ever have before at an adoption site. The dogs walked so much they were all tuckered out. Much thanks to Hannah, Emma, Abby, Rory, Colleen, Mallory, Alyssa, Natasha, Sarah and their moms and dads for their great help. While on site the girls decorated some cat and dog ornaments that Tammy made. We plan to sell the cat ornaments at the WCC Cat Show. Marcy Martin gave a great talk with question and answer on spay/neuter. She also discussed the criteria for an evaluation and was able to demonstrate thanks to 2 of Carole Brunstings new intakes. Cindi Tharpe, their leader has asked if they can do a few more hours of volunteer with HOPE. It was decided that we do an educational class, and Marcy and Tammy have volunteered to head that up. Besides the onsite stuff they did, the Girl Scouts also did a blanket drive for the dogs, made dog biscuits and catnip toys. From The Field graciously donated 2 pounds of catnip for the project. As an unexpected bonus, two kittens--Palmer and Daphne were adopted by girl scout families.
